My friend has been posting a "honor series" for social media. It's really sent ripples across my heart. Good ripples.
Honor is a deep respect for and a standing up for.
I'm an encourager I am gifted to encourage what I see in others. It's a spiritual gift. To bring encouragement. So I'm gifted to SEE things and then reach in with words and encourage that thing I see....nudge it...touch it...bless it...acknowledge it...or even exhort it! I've been known to do this most of my life...
Often the reason I have to do that is someone is NOT doing it...Someone is not honoring the gift within themselves, not nurturing it or keeping is alive. Life and people have stolen the seeds or things have been buried by life....God will send the words of encouragement...
HONOR THE WORK WITHIN
These days I focus on another part of honor...my own honor for what I carry, how I use it, how I care for the current encouragements I've received. I will tell you I need God's encouragement and strength more now than ever before...so when I find myself being complimented I SIMPLY RECEIVE IT AND HONOR IT. When others thank me for my help, I stop and embrace it and HONOR IT. When someone takes me to lunch or pays for a meal, I show simply gratitude and HONOR.
So many people DISCOUNT what they carry, who they are and what has been given to them in the form of a compliment because of the imperfections that reside in them. We are often the worst at HONORING OURSELVES...Yet if we don't honor...how can we expect others to?
I could look at my faults, imperfections or mistakes all day too, but truth be told, I'm getting older now, and I just DON'T have the time to waste...If I don't believe in me now....well WHEN will I accept me?
I'm called! I'm gifted! I'm envisioned and I am committed. It won't be perfect, it won't make millions, or draw 1,000s. It takes everybody I can enlist to carry this all out at Find Your Food and I take it seriously...
I honor it with belief and hard work every day. I am called, I take my place and I work hard to NOT compare myself to others. I'm just Jess, called, committed and carrying it out!
