We’re in such a hurry!
We have always been looking for the magic pill to get from here to there. We’re always looking to bargain and I’ll do this to get that.” We’re always looking for the NEXT corner we can cut! The cheatsheet that works, the coach that will take us to the win. I’m sure it’s always been that way, but we seem to be MORE impatient as the day goes by.
You really see this with people who are seeking weight loss above health! So how do we shift our focus from quick changes to lasting ones? We slow down and grow!
Slow it down. No matter how hard you try all week the weight and health issues will NOT be fixed by Friday! Slow down and put a few positive steps on the table that you can easily manage. More than weight loss you NEED consistency. Pick one facet of eating right and seek to make it a consistent thing. Don’t just eat whole foods once a week, seek to eat clean 5 days a week! 6 days, over and over until it’s consistent!
Expectations. This is going to be hard. If you are driven, you’ll begin on Monday and expect results by Friday! No results and you’ll quit! If you are more laid back, you’ll barely care, after all it’s hard to quit something you didn’t even really commit and start! Most of us quit NOT because it’s too hard but because it didn’t happen fast enough or we simply couldn’t really enter in! We set the bar too high, or there is no bar at all.
Know yourself. Set yourself up for success and KNOW what you can and can’t handle. Maybe you can do lowcarb or keto but you just can’t give up the Diet Coke right now. You need the Sugar free whatever it is. GIve that to yourself. Be good to yourself in the early days. Give yourself time, Give yourself healthy food. Give yourself the right attention. You know what you are capable of both good and bad. Remove tempting people, places and things.
