Probably the #1 reason I am on a ketogenic diet and remain there is because Keto makes food manageable again. Food gets quiet. I'm able to reestablish control and achieve not only weight loss but LIVE!
Carbs and Sugars are very controlling and they drive hunger, cravings and overeating behaviors. Removing them is hard at first but there are immediate benefits felt within a few short days. You begin to feel better and better and that sense of "having a problem with food" gets to be less and less of a problem.
Then you eat off plan. Just this once, or even just one bite for some and usually cravings return. You find yourself hungry for that next bite of that awesome thing. The cravings create struggle, and most of us are NOT good at overcoming a food struggle. Eventually, we cave and eat that loud food! Then we eat it again and soon we're in a real struggle.
Do NOT let the struggle become Defeat!
I've seen many people slip away because of THE STRUGGLE. They try to get things under control, usually ALL BY THEMSELVES. They might have reached out but couldn't follow through and had to restart every day until they just quit trying so hard. The weight starts coming back on, and they can't seem to get a grip. Soon it's just TOO MUCH, and they give in, defeated...
Nothing hurts worse than Defeat! We were not born for defeat but for victory. Can you win this war all alone? I could not win it alone. I've had to surround myself with people who love and believe in me. I need encouragement when I struggle, and I do struggle sometimes.
