Recently I've been writing about a long distance trip. Dieting is very similar to crossing the country! That trip will NOT happen without gas in the tank, and diets won't either. We can't afford to run out of gas in either situation!
So when was the last time you checked the gas?
What comes to mind when you read that question? Is it the energy you need? Is it time you need to set things up right. Maybe it's food that has to be in the house so you are compliant and successful on your plan.
I had no other choice
I always hate that moment when I look over at the gas gauge and know I need to fill up! It's distracting and often throws me into a bit of a panic! WHERE will I stop? I've been to a few seedy gas stations in my life because I HAD NO OTHER CHOICES.
That's where we really get in trouble with our diets. "Well there wasn't anything else to pick from I had NO other choice so I had to eat..." That can reintroduce foods that completely take hold of you all over again. They'll leave you stranded by the roadside unable to go on!
Too Tired to make good choices?
The other area an empty tank will cause trouble is if you are run down and extremely tired! You make bad choices here because it's too much effort to make good ones! Friday nights are usually my toughest night of the week. I make sure I've got one of my most favorite meals for Friday night and I make sure it's easy to cope with. I want to stay on the road and motor right through Friday night on my diet! Being tired is my #1 enemy! What's yours?
