One of the most miserable self effects of food addiction behavior is the complete loss of self esteem...and you don't realize how much of it is truly gone until...
Until you remove the controlling foods and begin the process of getting control back...When you start getting "base hits" instead of "strike outs" your confidence begins to rise...and with that esteem begins to build again. In the quiet depths of our inner self a little light begins to flicker again.
I find my esteem is tightly bound to my behavior and nothing was worse than my secret food behaviors....I'd smile and receive a compliment on the outside BUT on the inside I could never agree with it because "YOU DON'T KNOW THE REAL ME! I BEHAVE BADLY WITH FOOD"...It was such a painful secret. It destroyed my self confidence and self-esteem.
