I was here. Obese, and feeling like a failure every single day. Depressed, isolated and filled with shame, I reached for the next bite of something comforting. Most everything I pick up to eat was either a bread, a casserole, a huge bowl of sugar cereal or a sweet. I avoided cooking and I'm not a big salad or veggie fan. All of those food choices were foods my body could not longer metabolize well, and I sure didn't have the energy to burn up with exercise...so I got fatter and fatter and that made me eat more!
Then the email that changed my life. My cousin and I were chatting and one of us, suggested we go lowcarb together! I think we both just jumped on the community of it. Nov 10th 2015 we set off on our "Atkins lowcarb style diet"...
30 months later I've completely changed my life! It took being BRAVE every single day in some way to get here!
To get here? What did it take to get here? When I sit over coffee and consider that, I'd have to say, it took BRAVERY. I showed up for my cousin every day! Removing bad carbs and sugars, bringing back whole foods rich in nutrients. Accepting on a daily basis, these foods worked BEST for me! I joined a Fb group and showed up! I started posting and making friends. It took Bravery to leave behind my sense of failure and dare to aim for success.
All the small steps, which feel really large led to purpose! My brave then led to purpose today! Today I lead people out of food and back to life! I founded Yes! Groups. Small group support that is faith-based, offering women and men community that supports a lower carb approach. Whole foods, healthy fats and good old fellowship! It was a BIG step of bravery to take the step and start the groups. I then launched C3 Nutrition at our gym. Another small group format that provides community and coaching, because everybody has a diet book on the shelf, but what we really need is community to support us!
Taking life from a shameful place, to a successful place has been one brave step at a time!
