Have you focused lately?

April 27, 2017

Focus is critical to all our lives.  Our attention is attacked from every single angle all day long and probably our worst problem is with our smartphones.  Technology is right there, in our hands, by our beds, in our cars wirelessly and we are attached!

THAT ATTACHMENT!

That attachment is robbing us of our ability to establish focus and attention and spend time with ourselves and our thoughts!

In my email inbox this week I've got emails from motivational people I follow: Michael Hyatt and Mel Robbins, with both discussing the problem with our focus due to distraction with our phones. Seems to be a current topic and one I've had to deal with in my own life.

Do you FOCUS?  Especially on this weight loss journey?  Do you take the time to really look at the POWER of your own transformation? This transformation IS powerful!  It's powerful weight loss and it's powerful energy increases that lead to new impressive productivity.  There is the restoration of our confidence, and self-belief, which leads to positive movement and a sense of fulfillment and life from living again!  You know LIVE!

3 tips for focusing

#1 Put the phone in the other room

Start leaving the phone in another room. It's our #1 distraction!!!  You want to focus, not check every minute or so who is doing what on social media. So, what I want you to do with that phone is set a 10 minute timer and put it across the room or out of the room...(If you get copious amounts of notifications-silence the phone and set a timer from your kitchen)  You want to train yourself to just "be with yourself and your thoughts"

#2 Take paper and pen with you

Pick up a notebook or journal, to jot down thoughts as they come.  Most people are horrible at this, and it scares you to sit still and write.  So don't !  Sit still and reflect...should something important about this journey come to mind.  Jot it down with a date near it.

#3 Do this EARLY in your day

Early in your day while the mind is still fresh and rather uncluttered get up and give it 10 minutes.  I ask clients to journal, to spend time quietly reflecting and writing things down that come.  Things we need to knit back to ourselves.  Most cannot handle the suggestion.  They just can't get here.

(As Mel Robbins would say...5,4,3,2,1,) JUST GO THERE...10 minutes.  Get up half an hour early, make a cup of coffee, bring a timer, and do it.  Reflect on what is going on with your transformation journey.  Jot down notes, get up when the timer goes off and embrace what has come to you...

You see, so much is going on, as we embrace weight loss, and dealing with our feelings about yourselves and our food and our futures! Plus, there is MORE than weight loss going on, can you find the new quality of life you have?  It's important to embrace that too, it's far more important than the number on a scale!  Most importantly Do not be afraid of taking things a little deeper...There are revelations waiting!
