My friend John says it best, "NO MATTER HOW FULL I WAS, I WAS ALWAYS HUNGRY" His diet? high in sugars and starches.
Can you relate to that place? Are you wondering "what is wrong with me? I just ate!" That question is running through millions and millions of minds. They've all but given up because they can't seem to get a hold of themselves and they don't know why! But what if...what if it's more the food you are eating than you and your inability to control yourself?
Recently I've accepted a few new clients and when I tell them that soon food will be quiet they look at me like, "yea right, like that will ever happen!"...
The reason we're hungry and tired all the time is, as my friend Rebecca put it, "my body can’t get the energy into the cells due to my high insulin and the body is technically fed but is actually starving so it keeps calling for food." Why is her insulin high? She was eating a lot of sugars and starches which dramatically raise her blood sugar.
We have put all our attention on our behavior with food and not on the food that is controlling. Let me say it again, we are trying to "change ourselves instead of changing the food". I stumbled on this understanding when I went low-carb with my cousin. Within a week's time my appetite diminished. Within a month's time I didn't want the "old favorites" any more. I found myself eating LESS and eating LESS often. I could plan meals and execute. I was back in control.
Now to be fair, if I'm out with you and you order pizza and beer, I am going to miss that food, and I will have a moment of real sadness that I can't eat it too, but I CANNOT CONTROL THOSE TWO THINGS...I'll order a steak with butter on the side and a veggie with butter on it. I'll will totally enjoy my meal, just like you will and I will feel satisfied and fulfilled because my deepest need is for control and peace with food.
I don't want to be hungry all the time again.
