Fatigue was my friend, my best friend. She met me as I woke in the morning and dragged myself from bed. She encouraged me to drive through Starbucks and go Venti! She whispered I should indulge since I was so tired. By mid morning she was telling me to eat so I could pick up my energy and even volunteered to go to lunch early! She encouraged the drive-thru for dinner because I was too tired to hit the grocery and then cook. Fatigue was more than a friend, Fatigue was my bossy companion calling allnthe shots. On the weekends Fatigue turned down offers to explore, adventure, exercise or work in the yard, Fatigue gave me permission to totally chill out and spend the weekend binge watching Netflix.
I'm not alone, everybody is tired.
Just look at the sales at Starbucks, and the lines around the building (for a cup of coffee?). Look at all the energy in a can, Red Bull and Monster own the market, and don't forget your little 5hr energy shot at check out!
35 months ago I started a Ketogenic diet to lose weight. I was lethargic and obese. I was always tired and living a very inactive life in front of the TV, eating away and sleeping.
I went Keto to try and change all of that. Boy did it deliver! Getting off the sugars and carbs was an EYE OPENING deal. Energy started in the morning, I was sure it was just plain ole EXCITEMENT because I was going to finally lose weight and get my life back! The energy persisted and I started to accomplish more and more in my days. I was finding myself up and rolling earlier each day. I was happy to cook and clean and I even went for a walk? WHAT WAS HAPPENING???
On a ketogenic approach you are basically changing your fuel. It's like you go from regular to premium and when you put your foot on the gas there is a difference you can FEEL! You have been a sugar-burner converting all those carbs and sugars to glucose and burning that for fuel. On keto you stop with all that crap food and eat whole foods, meats, fats, greens and after three days the sugar stored in your body is all burned up and no more is coming in so your body shifts to fat-for-fuel and you become a fat burner...
Our bodies LIKE fat! We burn it easily and it gives us sustained energy!
So on keto, I am in a fat-burning mode and I don't need starbucks, monster, red bulls or any 5hr energy shots. I've got sustainable energy all day long. I do enjoy morning coffee and I'll grab a cup when in a meeting at a coffee shop, but I don't NEED it. I enjoy whole foods, healthy fats and am rarely hungry. Cravings and controlling food thought are all quiet.
So yes I'm Lowcarb, but I'm High Energy!
And I lost 85lbs in the process, regained my health, vitality and confidence. I've been settled back in those size 6 shorts (I use to be a size 22) and now it's the ENERGY I appreciate the most!
