Our standard American diet has us all struggling for energy. We're living on Starbucks, Red Bulls, 5 Hr energy shots and anything else they can throw at us! Energy is lacking in our lives, our jobs and holding us back from really LIVING!
We're HIGH CARB...LOW ENERGY.
I've been on a ketogenic diet for 35 months and for the last 6 months due to lack of structure and commitment my carb counts have drifted up along with the keto treats, and extra keto sweets! The struggle was real, the energy was gone as I was in and out of ketosis. Essentially I was simply opening or shutting the door on my energy stores. In ketosis, we have access to stored fat, our onboard continual energy supply. If you've ever been in DEEP ketosis consistently you KNOW all about that energy, as well as how ketosis suppresses the appetite and crushes cravings. It's like Mecca!!!
But I've been in and out and have struggled with extreme low energy to the point of laying on the couch all afternoon on the weekends and if you know me, that had gone away...Back in deep ketosis, we rode 60 miles yesterday afternoon! My husband shaking his head at my latest brilliant idea.
With high energy we can accomplish so much!
But where are We? We're in LINE at Starbucks, waiting our turn at the long Drive-thru line or inside an equally long line. Why are we there? Caffeine-for-energy! We need it to function. Not only that, but we're swinging through often more than once a day.
On keto, I have a simple sustainable energy. I wake up early and go about my day. I don't zoom, I don't peak, and I do NOT crash, and I produce, create and accomplish. My feel good about my efforts and achievements. It's all done with an ease and I'm NOT thinking about food or hungry all the time.
