The holidays are right around the corner and I don't know about you they seem to be a mind field in my world! I have a few things I want to protect over the next 2 months.
(Hello to all my new blog followers, this is what I do here, I share about things THAT MATTER and the things that I have to THINK ABOUT to maintain this way of eating and living.)
So....Things That Matter?
#1 Staying Consistent!
Staying consistent with my food through all the holidays ahead is without a doubt my #1 goal. I'm on a ketogenic diet. It's my life now. I know I have to stay in ketosis or I crash with no energy, I struggle with my food mentally and physically and I am miserable! Ketosis keeps energy HIGH. Ketosis suppresses appetite and makes it very easy to pass on a keto treat, or over eating. So it must stay!
#2 Stay Proactive
I do this a few ways. I check the restaurant before I go...pre-plan my meal I bring a dish I LOVE! I may snack in the car on the way to a compromising situation. I drink water and position myself away from food. I engage with people about them and not me.
#3 I Say No!
I protect myself. I quietly say no thanks, "I'm not hungry". I say, "No thanks, that just doesn't agree with me anymore." I will dig my heels in. I knew this was coming and I will protect my diet at all costs. I am prepared to fight for me! It's not my job to make the cook happy. I do not have to eat it because of who made it. No JUST ONE BITE...no!
#4 Ask the cook what is in something!
I was at a wedding this summer and a "keto cake" was made for those of us on keto. I smiled when told and I asked WHO made the cake. I then walked over and said, "You made the cake, tell me about it, I might want to make it too." It was then and only then that I ate the cake. I trusted the cook.
#5 I stayed accountable!
I filed a flight plan with my diet buddy. There isn't going to be any "ooops" coming from me. I'm a leader who has to lead herself...
Look, this is hard stuff. But you have to take responsibility and protect your plate! Nobody else cares about it like you do!
