I was going too fast, involved in way too much. Up early in the office at home running my keto small groups and coaching services at Find Your Food. Generating business and driving concepts and meeting with people online, in person, at the hospital and in the gym. It's been like that for over 6 months...
Somewhere down the line...I left Ketosis
I do remember it when it happened and I phoned a friend and tried to get back into ketosis and I did over and over but nothing sustained. I was too busy and then started to get TOO TIRED again. The tiredness was profound and by the weekend I was nursing it with food and then back out of ketosis. The pattern quickly returned of doing well most of the week and overeating all weekend long. ALL KETO but OUT OF CONTROL...and for a habitual dieter and lifestyle person, out of control would be JUST ENOUGH to knock me out of ketosis...
I've become aware of 2 things #1 on a high fat diet out of ketosis means you will STORE THOSE FATS INSTEAD OF BURN THEM...so Weight gain followed. #2 Out of ketosis means back to being a sugar-burner and there is NO energy there!
A HIGH FAT DIET ON A SUGAR BURNING METABOLISM...#NOTSMART
What was missing more than anything else was the ENERGY I needed to keep up with Opportunity! I was grabbing coffees all day long...adding heavy cream and a bit of sweetener, just to KEEP UP with opportunity.
Then there was the quality of life thing....I was NO LONGER riding my bike or swimming. NO fun fitness goals this past summer...none. No energy to follow through so why dream em up. Back on the couch during the hot summer instead of out side.
I rationalized that it was because I was so tired from all the opportunities.
FAST FORWARD...20days of consistent KETO...I'm up at 5am daily ready to GO! I'm hardly ever hungry and I don't THINK about food. My energy is at a new level and it's CONSISTENT. I drink two cups of coffee before 7am and never drink it or NEED IT again in a day.
Yesterday my daughter and I went for a 40 mi bike ride. I arrived at the course on an empty stomach at 11:30am. We rode for over 3 and a half hours, in that time I had 10 olives, and 15-20 pepperoni slices and water. I wasn't dead on my feet when we finished like my child. I came home in great shape and eventually made dinner...FOOD STAYED QUIET the whole time. I was up at 5am this morning.
Last weekend I led and hosted a Retreat, a dream come true! I arrived on a Saturday morning from a blistering week of opportunity and was calm and alert and had sustainable energy all day long followed by rising at 5am on Sun, Mon, Tues...etc. Not hungry, not tired, focused and meeting the demands of opportunity.
NOT STRUGGLING AT ALL, are you? Are you in ketosis, and if not, WHY NOT?
