As a leader I know this...so I'm very careful about what I put out there. Why am I posting a challenge in the Find Your Food TRIBE facebook group? Because we can all benefit from fasting, unless your physician feels it wouldn't be good for you, most all of us can benefit. (Need medical clearance for fasting? Go-get-it)
FASTING IS SCARY!
That's why this is a 24hr or 3day fast. Inching in is good! One step at a time is good! I stepped into extended fasting last week and went a lot farther than I expected because it became easier as I went. I also have fasted on and off for years...
I will lose control WHEN i do eat. If you start your fast in "fat burning metabolism" you are already more in control of your hunger and impulses than you think. Plus hunger as a Fat-adapted person is way different when you've been away from the control of sugar...When we break a fast we do is slowly, or you might throw up....(a complete downer). EXERCISING CONTROL is one of the facets of fasting. You will use that during and possibly after. I was fine.
#2 People's Reaction
In reading the Complete Guide to Fasting I was surprised how often Jung and Moore suggested NOT TELLING ANYONE what you are doing...Drawing attention will possibly create drama. I smiled through a dinner out, a coffee with friends and a party...held my water and enjoyed the conversation. You only knew if you followed the blog or my Fb groups.
#3 BABY STEPS
Take small steps. Begin to formulate a positive plan for Fasting if you felt it resonate. For me, I felt the benefits, and watched as my ketone production went higher than ever before, and my energy and clarity rose as I went. I felt better and better until day 6.5 when I felt hungry. Hungry enough to stop. But long before extended fasting, I intermittent fasted.
#4 INTERMITTENT FASTING?
Extending the period in a day that you do not eat. Most of us wake up and we're not hungry. Don't eat until you feel true hunger, the calculate when you ate last? If you stopped eating at 6pm and you didn't eat until 1p the next day, that was a 19 hr fast! If you eat in a window of 1-6pm and repeat that's called a 19:5 fast. I've uses IF (intermittent fasting) to gain focus and control. I love it. It led to me to courage and that step into Extended fasting.
